Are you feeling powerless? Overwhelmed? Confused on where to put your attention?
Many of us are.
These are wise body responses when facing immense pressure, which is much of our everyday lives given the intensity of our current political landscape.
What would be possible in your life, or organizing, if you had access to
clarity on where to put your attention,
tools to help you grounding amidst the overwhelm
connection to your own agency and power?
Somatics is a pathway to remembering and practicing connection with our own agency, clarity and ground.

We find ourselves in unprecedented times facing rapidly changing climate on our earth, deeply divisive political climate, and an onslaught of media cycles. All on top of our day-to-day lives, work commitments and relationships. It’s not surprising many of us are feeling pulled in many directions trying to put out the quickly multiplying fires and are struggling to take skillful action. Our nervous systems are flooded with information daily. As the pressure builds, you might find yourself falling into similar patterns that keep you from living in alignment with your deepest values.
How do we find stability and grounding when the ground seems to be shifting often and quickly?
How do we decide where to put our attention?
Our bodies are a gift and a key. The body holds deep wisdom, memory, history and can offer you both a source grounding, clarity and healing. We can feel for an embodied “yes’” or “no” and then choose to align those yeses and nos with what we care about and want in our lives.
Come to this introductory somatic workshop to practice and learn ways to ground and listen to the wisdom of your body. We will practice centering inside of chaos to support us to take skillful action about what we care about and move more deeply toward what we long for in our personal lives and the world. We will offer some theory, practice and space to connect. No prior somatic or embodiment experience required.
What does the body have to say?
Come + See
What to expect:
In this workshop, we’ll learn through the body using individual, partner and group practices. The practices are simple, but require repetition to become accessible under pressure so we will offer you practices you can continue after this workshop as a way to play with integrating them into your day-to-day life.
This workshop is designed for both people new to somatics and those who've been practicing for a while. Somatic practices are meant to be revisited again and again, inviting new depth and understanding with each repetition.
About the facilitators:
This workshop is co-facilitated by Lucy Waechter Webb and Tess Waechter Smith grounded in the Strozzi and generative somatics methodologies. Tess and Lucy are sisters, politicized healers + change makers who grew up in Michigan. After years of living away from Michigan, they returned to the land and peoples who shaped them with a commitment and longing toward community care and racial justice. They approach somatics as a practice that offers personal and collective healing and change.
